“Lightweight and efficient gear is key when you have to keep up with athletes and carry a lot of camera equipment…”
The Lamina Z Torch sleeping bag is a lightweight, synthetic bag designed to be as warm and compressible as down. It’s the warmest of the Lamina series, rated down to 5 degrees F. Because the insulation is thermally mapped i.e. zoned where your body needs it most, there is less bulk where you don’t need it. The bag weighs in at 4 lbs 4 oz and can pack down smaller than most 4-season bags (11.1 liters compressed). The insulation is also laminated to the fabric, which prevents heat loss from traditional stitching. The goal was a bag that’s not just warm, but comfortably warm.
We sent the bag to MHW ambassador Jesse Hambley to test because he not only spends countless cold nights in the backcountry, but he’s always hauling camera equipment–pack space is limited. He took the Lamina Z Torch split-boarding on Mt. Hood, this was his experience…
By using my own compression sack I was able to pack it down even smaller than advertised…
“It was one the first times my feet weren’t cold while winter camping…”
“Even though I brought a warmer bag, i didn’t wake up with any moisture or condensation…”
“I’m 6 ft and found the regular size spacious for me and other gear I wanted to keep warm…”
